My advice to current Further Maths students: 'Do not book holidays during your A Levels unless in August. Missing lessons is not a good idea.'

Questions and Answers

Q1: Do you have A Level Further Maths revision classes for AQA, Edexcel, OCR, WJEC and Cambridge exam boards?
A: Yes. Revision classes for Further Maths take place during the October half-term, February half-term, June half-term and Easter half-term.

Q2: When does AS or A2 Further Maths start at Cherry Hill?
A: Our official start date for AS Further Maths, for Year 12s, is in September each year. Our official start date for A2 Further Maths is in July (of year 12) each year.

Q3: If I start tuition late, how will I cover the lessons I missed?
A: You will need to request missed lessons from your mentor. If these lessons are needed, they will be chargeable.

Q4: You cover a topic in February, but I would like it in October. Can you do this?
A: Previous pupils have never needed the order of topics to be changed, and we do not generally recommend this. Topics are taught in a structured sequence and are guided by your examination board specification or syllabus. Most topics depend upon knowledge gained from earlier topics. As the teaching system at Cherry Hill is highly structured, organised and thorough, we do not normally permit changes to the order of topics, as this can disrupt a student’s progress and assessment schedule. In the rare event that a change to the teaching order is required, any additional lessons provided will be chargeable.

Q5: Which optional papers (i.e. Mechanics, Statistics, Decision Maths, Discrete Maths, etc.) do you recommend I take?
A: We recommend that all students take Mechanics and Statistics as their two optional papers, as these subjects have the strongest history of available resources and more predictable exam question styles. If your school does not have a teacher who offers Statistics and/or Mechanics, please let your mentor know during your first week so they can adjust your schedule accordingly.
